 This Cruise departs from Parakai, Helensville and Cruises across the Kaipara Harbour past Shelly Beach to view the expanse of NZ's largest inland waterway, we then return to Shelly Beach and go ashore where you can spend time at "The Jetty " Licensed  Cafe' and or, explore this remote beach and settlement before re- boarding our vessel for the

 return journey back across the harbour to Parakai.

Retracing the old steamer and sailing ship routes from Helensville to Dargaville through

the historic Kaipara Harbour aboard our comfortable vessel M.V. Kewpie Too.


 Day One:   We cruise through the little traveled eastern reaches of the Kaipara Harbour               

from Helensville past Shelly Beach, South Head, Tinopai to Pahi, where we join our coach  for

the short journey across to Dargaville. Our accommodation for  the evening is the Northern Wairoa Hotel and the Central Hotel,  These old time hotels are clean and comfortable, however not all rooms have ensuite facilites.

If you  require Motel accommodation this is available at an extra. $35.00 per person,  the Motels are out of the main town centre.

Lunches day one and two, morning/afternoon teas and Dinner Bed and Continental Breakfast is also included on this cruise.

 Day Two:     We Cruise from Dargaville through the Northern Wairoa River, past  Te Kopuru, Ruawai, Kelly's Bay,   and many other beautiful Bays and Inlets, where  early gum diggers camped before  making our way past Pouto Point across the Kaipara Heads before returning to Helensville.

If you are cycling the  2020Tour Aotearoa Trail from Cape Reinga through the Kaipara Harbour,  Kaipara Cruises will be operating limited departure dates for the cruise from Pouto Point across the Kaipara Harbour to Parakai, Helensville.  This is a 3 hour journey from Pouto Point to Parakai, departure times vary due to the tides.

See below for 2020 public sailings, outside of these dates we can operate these Cruises from Pouto to Helensville on demand on a private charter basis.

Leaving from Parakai, you will spend a relaxing 3 hours  on the Kewpie Too

 exploring the tranquil rivers of the Kaipara River Valley.  You will view the

 sites of early kauri mills and bush camps now long gone while listening

 to the informative commentary, and also visit the beautiful bush reserve

 on the Kaukapakapa River  (tide depending)  where young kauri, kowhai

 and totara, among others grow sheer from the waters edge along with a

shag colony and other wildlife nesting on the river.

Join us on a 4 hour voyage discovering the beautiful native bush, Idyllic Bays and the magnificent Kauri of the Otamatea.

We cruise from Pahi through the Arapaoa River and into the Otamatea River, passing places rich in history such as Puriri Point, Batley, and Tanoa, to the historic Ranganui Rail Bridge before returning to Pahi.

DEPARTS: Port Albert Wharf 20 mins from Wellsford

Join us on a 4 hour voyage of discovery exploring the historic inland waterways of the Kaipara Estuary, retracing the old steamer and sailing ship routes though sheltered scenic waterways of times gone by.

This cruise departs from Port Albert through the Oruawharo River to Otamatea River through to the historic Batley Hotel

before returning to Port Albert ~ sheltered estuary waters, this makes an ideal cruise for even the most dubious of sailors.

No  Public Easter Cruises  for 2020.

 This is a one day voyage of discovery retracing the old steamer and sailing ship routes across 66 nautical miles of sheltered inland waterways from Helensville directly to Dargaville .  This enables  your group to plan your own itinerary  maybe stay and explore Dargaville's attractions before leaving Dargaville the following day ie,Dargaville Museum, Kumera Box,, railcarts etc  or  have your coach  meet you on arrival and return you to your destination, another option,  continue on day one or two further into Northland. Paihia, Opononi, Whangarei, Warkworth.


  This cruise is the reverse of the above  departing from Dargaville by boat to Helensville

Same as above applies, you can extend your own itinerary after the boat cruise  ie, return by coach to Dargaville, stay an extra couple of days around Auckland/Helensville before continuing on, or include this cruise as part of a larger  tour South.
